And how exactly can this be achieved ?

The hook is an experience designed to connect the user's problem to your product with enough frequency to make it a habit through successive cycles.

We need to make sure these steps occur every time they interact with our product:
𝟭.𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀:
External triggers can be included with the help of product design internal triggers are extremely important as they are based upon people's needs (emotion, situation, routines).

• Do you know that 𝗡𝗲𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 are the most powerful triggers?
➡️ Because that's when people seek comfort and the role of habit-forming product is to associate with that emotion.

𝟮.𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻:
For any behavior b to occur we need Motivation, Ability, Trigger

𝗯= 𝗺+ 𝗮 +𝘁
Level of motivation and ability mainly determine if action will occur.

𝟯.𝗥𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱:
We need to giive rewards that satiate users but leave them wanting more. There are essentially 3 types of rewards
.
(i) Social rewards (Followers) 📱
(ii) Information rewards (Scrolling in LinkedIn feed) 🌐
(iii) Game rewards ( Points, stars, Ranks )🎮

𝟰. 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁:
They increase the likelihood of the user returning to use the product in 2 ways.

(i) Bringing back the users by something they did. Like Whatsapp msg notifications.
(ii) The more data you give or more followers, the reputation you have associated with the product the more you value the product.

Designing habit-forming products is a form of manipulation. We should be responsible enough to use these tools for good. We can help people build healthy habits to improve their life.
